Well…This Escalated

Art studio under construction. Arty life under reconstruction.

Sweet baby J—the new studio is happening!

That’s right, you heard me. MY ART STUDIO IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!

It’s pearl-clutching, outright swooning time as the studio goes up on the far side of the driveway.

I may be getting ahead of myself because we don’t have walls or a roof yet…minor deets, right. But I already know where the coffee pot’s gonna go.

Because this girl’s got her priorities.

But the studio isn’t the only thing being built around here.

I’m rebuilding this website.

You may recall I started that… oh… six months ago.

And then my kid got sick and everything related to art went pffft…completely forgotten.

The easy part (and I use the term ‘easy’ loosely. Because y’know… nerd alert! website stuff) the easy part was the design. This button take you here, that one takes you there. Let’s map this sucker so everything just flows.

Actually I lied when I said that was easy. I’m a person who gets from point A to point B via a slight detour through the rest of the alphabet so designing the flow was the first hurdle.

But I did and it’s lovely and you’ll see it ALL when the new pages are complete and published.

Which will be—well, guess we need to backtrack a little…

You see this current website showcases of a lot of art you can’t buy because they’ve already been sold. Which is great for my reputation… less great for, you know, new sales.

I have a lot of work available but with all the chaos of the move I’m a bit behind on handling inventory details.

Most of it is in storage. If I were highly organized, I’d know exactly what’s in there.

But I’m not.

So now I’m digging through storage, photographing what I’ve got  and expanding my print line so people can leave with something besides admiration.

Tiny details. Big freakin’deal.

And if that’s not enough–

I’m applying for open studios this summer!

Which means people will be walking into that (fingers crossed) finished space, looking at the work, admiring the coffee pot and talking to me like I do this for real.

Which I do.

Talk about motivation!

So I’m rebuilding the website like it matters. Because it does. I’m organizing the work like people are going to see it. Because they are.

I’m showing up before everything is polished, labeled, and behaving nicely.

Here I am,  a work in progress.

And that feels a heckuva of a lot better than standing still.

This week’s prompt (keeping it simple):

Where are you still circling? Pick one thing and step in. Not five things. Not a full reinvention.

One.

Start it. Show it. Let it be a little messy. Just. Do. It!

Till next week–

You made it to the end—woohoo! 🎉 Before you head off, why not take a little piece of the studio with you? Join my list for weekly prompts and new work.

Hey, welcome to my blog. I'm an artist, writer and sometimes a wise-ass observer of life. Thoughts are my own because really--who else would claim them?
